This idea took a long time to conjure. Ian G. and I went through many other ideas like a desk organizer and a photograph lamp before reaching to lamp idea. Ian G. brought in the lawn mower engine and said we could use it and we then thought of the lamp idea. Many setbacks came into play however like machines not working properly and figuring out materials we could use for each piece to the lamp.
Steps:
Plexiglas plate:
Take a picture of the open face of the engine
Move the picture into Photoshop
cut out the outer perimeter of the engine opening
move into illustrator
make the perimeter .0001 inch thick
Make the line red
Battery holder:
Make a rectangle the size of the battery holder
Make a perimeter around the outside
Extrude the outside to the height of the battery holder
Base:
Create a circle big enough to hold the engine
create a rectangle in the middle to hold the base of the engine
make a hole in the rectangle to hold the small bolt sticking out the bottom
create a small path to hold the wire from the lights

What I learned:
This project taught me a lot. It taught me the risk of procrastination, that distractions are abundant and most importantly that you should always have a backup plan in case your original doesn't work. This project also taught me that most if not all the materials needed to do any project are in your house already. This project began as a frustration and a project I was not excited for, but it turned out to be a good learning experience as well as a good time. Overall this entire class has taught me many potentially helpful skills i may or may not use in the future. But it was a good experience that I am happy to have taken part of.
