Documentation:
I thought of this Idea when playing video games at my house. I was playing Overwatch as my favorite character called Sombra. I came up with the idea, because every time I "hack" somebody as Sombra a skull comes up. It was at this point I decided to make this decal.
When I was making the decal in illustrator I got very frustrated. I could not figure out how to do what I wanted which was split three pieces apart as shown above in the pictures. A couple of minutes later I ended up figuring out how to do what I wanted and I finished the illustrator portion of this project.
The vinyl cutter is nice and easy to use, I knew how to use it, but the problems still arose. The first day I went to use the cutter I didn't get to the front of the line, and on the second day when I was able to use the cutter, somehow the vinyl cutter had been unplugged. But after everything was sorted, the project went smoothly.
Steps:
To complete this assignment I first had to find an image that I wanted to use. I searched the internet for around 20 minutes, then I found the image I wanted. I then had to split the parts of the image that I wanted to be different colors (images 1-3). The next step was to vinyl cut all three images on the vinyl cutter. This was very simple after the cutter was reconnected to the computer. Weeding was next in the line for this project, and I also had to place all of the pieces together in order to make my decal complete. the final step in the process was to stick the decal to my PS4.
What I learned
In this part of IDEA I had to use the vinyl cutter to make a vinyl decal. I learned many things as well as solidifying some information on procedure in my brain. I learned how to take certain parts of an image in illustrator and put that image in a different art board. I also learned that if the vinyl cutter is not connected to the laptop by it, the vinyl will not be cut. Overall I learned a few things and I now know perfectly well how to use the vinyl cutter and I am exited to get along with my next projects.
